420 Level 1 - Mon & Thurs evenings May 31-June 10
Are you ready to sail with a partner? Have you mastered Pico 1 and 2? This is not a class for those who are “brand new, never been sailing”, but is ideal for sailors who have taken the Pico 2 class. It is also suited to Opti sailors who have outgrown their boats and other single-handed sailors who are ready to share!
Instruction is both on and off the water with 420s.
This class will take place at KYC and will run from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on Mondays and Thursdays.
On Day 1 , we will be covering:
- Boat Parts
- Rigging
- Sail Controls
- Sailing Maneuvers in 420
- Double handed Capsizing
On Day 2 we will be covering:
- Wind
- Rights of Way
- Stopping and Starting
- Gybing
On Day 3 we will be covering:
- Upwind sailing
- Sailing a course
On Day 4 we will be covering:
- intro to racing
Wetsuit is highly recomended for April, May, June, September and October, and will still be useful for July and August. You will be very cold in the spring and fall without a wetsuit! You must wear close-toed watershoes/runners/sailing booties as well as a pfd.
PLEASE BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES! We will be having a lunch break off the water, so please pack a lunch, as well as a change of clothes for in-between sessions and for after class.
The lesson(s) may be rescheduled at the coaches' discretion, if they believe the environment is not appropriate for the lesson.
