2021 Co-Op Rules for Members

This are the rules that you, the co-op member, need to adhere to.

  1. You must follow the safety rules attached in the Co-Op Safety Guide and the Co Op Gear Guide. These are part of the Co-Op rules.

  2. You must be both a Club Member and a Co-Op member to use co-op gear. No guests are allowed to use any gear.

  3. Not all club-owned gear is available to co-op members. Only use gear that is listed at the club web site as available to co-op members. Scheduled KYC activities have precedence for the use of gear.

  4. You must be checked to establish adequate sailing or paddling ability on each craft you want to use, and learn the procedures related to gear use.

  5. Before using gear on or off the water and after finishing using it, enter all the details required in the co-op log book, as instructed during your co-op checkup.

  6. Observe Transport Canada Marine Safety Rules Rules and Regulations, Right of Way Rules, and other government rules, such as the following marine safety rules: Safe Boating Guide and https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety/tp-tp14659-safetyequipment-3018.htm

  7. Unless you use co-op gear to participate in a KYC organized or sanctioned race, do not use co-op gear when the wind speed exceeds 15 knots.

  8. If you checked out gear and then any damage or loss occurred, you’re obliged to either furnish the labor necessary to repair the equipment, or provide the club equivalent labor or payment for professional repair. All repairs will be done to the satisfaction of the club manager.

  9. If you notice a defect, breakage, or loss of equipment, bring this to the attention of the club manager.

  10. If you cause or see damage to non-Club boats or property, report it immediately to the appropriate authority, to the club manager, and to the Commodore.
