The KYC Co-op is a popular part of our club which offers use of a variety of watercraft to members without the cost of buying and storing, and maintaining your own equipment.
Co-op Members can enjoy sailing, paddleboarding, and kayaking on their own schedule.
The Co-op is a volunteer-driven program, each member of the Co-op is expected to participate in the upkeep and maintenance of the equipment. All Co-op members must agree to the Co-op rules and participate in a mandatory orientation before the use of the equipment.
All Co-op members must abide by the rules laid out in the Co-op Handbook 2025.
- Membership is very affordable. KYC members can add a Co-op membership for an additional $180 + GST per year (plus 5 additional Co-op specific work hours)
- Sail a Cal20, Laser, Pico, C420 or windsurfer; paddle a kayak or stand-up paddleboard
- A great way to improve your skills if you are a new sailor or paddler or a little out of practice

OUR EQUIPMENT
Hobie Wave
Our newest addition is a 13-ft catamaran that’s simple, stable, and a ton of fun. The boomless main and kick-up rudders make it easy to launch and sail, and its wide platform comfortably carries 1–4 people—perfect for casual sails, or taking friends for a spin on English Bay. Available to Co-op members after orientation and in accordance with Co-op rules.
Laser
We have five Lasers, a singlehanded boat that some would consider to be the most popular racing dinghy around the world, with over 215,000 (and counting!) boats in 140 countries.
C420
The Co-op has five C420 sailboats, a 4.2-metre long, 2-person dinghy with a spinnaker and trapeze. Simple for beginner sailors, and yet challenging enough for collegiate champions. The C420 offers more learning opportunities than any other double-handed boat. Over 5,000 Club 420s are sailed in programs all over North America.
Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUPs)
We have 14 SUPs available, including four inflatable SUPs.
Sit-on-top Kayaks
Six sit-on-top kayaks are available - four singles and two doubles.
Ocean Kayaks
Two single ocean kayaks are available.
Windsurfers
One windsurfer with a variety of sails are available.
